Why This, Why Now?

Trail Mavens focused on getting amazing women - like  you! - outside, doing things you didn’t know you could do.

Our adventures left women feeling like outdoor pros, and quite capable of starting their own damn campfires, thankyouverymuch.

TM_TomalesBay_05-2016-4017.jpg

We jumped into freezing cold mountain streams, hiked mile after mile with a heavy pack, and learned three ways to filter water (because you never know when you’ll need a Plan B).

The wilderness invited us to test what we’re made of.

It wasn’t just sharing tents beneath the redwood trees. It was the conversations and the powerful questions. It was the community of women getting down and dirty in vulnerability.

It was the challenge not just of body, but of mind and of spirit.

You walked away feeling grounded.

Capable.

More yourself than you’ve felt before.

The outdoors isn’t available to us in the same way, but there are still women - like you - who crave a challenge.

Women who want to explore outside their comfort zones with the safety of a rock-solid community to support them.

Women who are ready for a gentle push - or some tough love - when we know you can reach further...

…so we created a virtual coaching circle to take those feelings, and bring them to you wherever you are right now.

outcomes (1).png

we make sure you get:

  • A holy-shit amount of clarity around what’s serving you and what’s not.

  • Intentional about using this gift of time to reflect/learn/grow.

  • To create some light in this darkness.

  • Past the awkwardness of virtual calls to make space for real connection.

  • A new circle of women who adore and support you from afar.

Plus…

  • Eight facilitated every-other-week Wednesday night group sessions, plus homework (both reflection- and action-oriented) in between, for growth between June and September/October.

  • Between-session support from your cohort, Sasha, and Bailey via WhatsApp.

  • A welcome package designed to bring you closer to your new posse.

week-by-week outcomes:

Week 1: Get intimate with our squad, design our rules of engagement, and learn to ask questions like a professional coach.

Week 2: Gut. Intuition. Self. Inner leader/certainty/captain. Whatever language you choose, become BFF’s with her.

Week 3: Get clear on your personal values. Emphasis on the ‘your,’ because we’re creating the space for you to do it without interference from errybody else in your life, each of whom has their own biases around how you live yours.

Week 4: Make scary/exciting, values-based goals and crush them with the support of your gang. Create a framework for decision-making in all areas of your life.

Week 5: Meet another one of those (completely normal) voices in your head: the inner critic. Get really good at deciding when to say, “Thanks, but no thanks” to what you hear.

Week 6: Learn how people in your world perceive you - and decide what do you want to do with that information.

Week 7: Every group is different, and every group needs more time with one or two of our content areas. We’re building in space for that.

Week 8: Reflect on your change, create a plan for future action, and give/receive love from your group.

Please note: We reserve the right to fiddle with this schedule in the interest of creating the richest experience for you.

A very important disclaimer

First, this is not a sit-back-and-relax experience.

You will not be hiding, camera-off/mute-on for two hours every other week, secretly watching Tik Toks on your phone. Your takeaways are 1000% correlated with how much you put in, and we want you IN IT.

Second, all the hard work and growth happens in your actual, beautiful life, between each of our circles.

Our time together is to a) equip you with the tools you’ll need to do the work, b) create accountability, c) deepen learning, and d) have a blast.

That means you need to have the time and emotional space in your life not only for our sessions, but also to do the work in between.

So what exactly is the work? It might look like:

- Reading or listening to content.

- Engaging with the community as a support/sounding board.

- Observing your thoughts and behavior, and making notes on what you learn.

- Changing your behavior. It's hard to live into your values, but it feels so, so good when you do. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy: the more you live your values → the more you’ll feel good → the more you’ll live your values.

We’re jumpstarting the process with clarification and accountability...and when it’s done, you’ve got to keep going.

Bottom line: if you don’t have the time and space in your life, and/or aren’t willing to do the work, then - while we still love you! - this group isn’t a good fit.

If this all sounds like woo woo coach-y language and you have zero idea what we’re talking about… let’s get specific.

during our online circles:

  • We split our time between time for open self-expression and learning techniques and frameworks to apply IRL.

  • Likewise, we split our time with the whole squad and small groups, because a) nothing feels better than being on a team, but b) sometimes there are people you inexplicably click with.

  • We blend serious mental-emotional work with levity, because learning is cemented both in tears and in laughter.

  • Expect a healthy dose of guided meditation. If you think it’s so not your thing...we bet we'll change your mind.

  • Don’t be surprised if we break out into a dance party, because we believe spending time with your mind is elevated by spending time in your body.

  • Many circle members sip a little vino and eat a little chocolate.

Sasha Cox

The Resume-Type Stuff: Sasha is the founder of Trail Mavens, a certified life coach, a communication skills coach, and group facilitator. She holds a B.A. and M.A. from Stanford University in Psychology and Learning & Development, and has over two decades of experience in teaching, coaching, outdoor ed, and team dynamics.

The Fun Stuff: Sasha’s coaching style is marked by a potent combo of insight brains, playfulness, and (when necessary) tough love. Sasha eats dessert every. Single. Day. For her, no musical era/genre will ever compare with late 90’s hip-hop. Four things that have massively shaped her worldview include: discovering improv in college, the death of her mom in 2012, quitting her job and traveling for a year in 2013, and having her own kiddo in 2017.

Bailey Selland

The Resume-Type Stuff: Bailey is a creator of learning experiences, and she’s been at it for over a decade. She has a handy dandy Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, which informs her work as coach, workshop facilitator, and fitness instructor. She believes in holding space for and feeling all your feels, and she'll be right there with you in your darkness and your light.

The Fun Stuff: Bailey is regularly referred to as a rock and calm as a cucumber. As a coach, she focuses on asking the questions that draw you deep and leave you in wonder. Oh, and cheerleading how awesome you are. Bailey's ideal moment is eating cheeseburgers and fries after an epic backpacking trip, filled with dreamy mountain lake swims. Three things to ask her about: her epic love story, building out a camper van, and any personality test you've ever taken from your Hogwartz House to Myers-Briggs.
