Role: Social Media & Content Maven
Hometown: Albuquerque, New Mexico
The thing that most excites me about my job at Trail Mavens is...
Sharing the stories of the empowered, empowering women who come on Trail Mavens trips. This community is solid gold. (Also, s’mores!)
"Trail Mavens is..."
the best way to get fired up and ready to live your best life. No joke! I leave every trip with new friends and a renewed sense of purpose. (Plus a never-ending list of new places to visit, books to read, and podcasts to listen to.)
My favorite Trail Mavens adventure (so far):
Lost Coast backpacking. We spent 3 days hiking the most remote, most beautiful section of the California coast, sharing the dramatic black sand beaches with playful elephant seals, antique lighthouses, an elusive black bear (!), and supersaturated sunsets. One of my favorite memories is eating kale mac n’ cheese by headlamp inside a driftwood fort, swapping trail tales with 7 new friends as the seals laughed along.
When I’m not working for Trail Mavens, I’m...
Freelance writing and road tripping the American West.
Five things I could never do without:
My 4-legged BFF (best fur friend), Juno
My 4-wheeled BFF (best fuel friend), Ruby Sue the Subaru
Green chile breakfast burritos
Secondhand paperbacks
My secret skill is:
Groan-worthy, grin-worthy dad jokes around the campfire. (Mountains aren’t just funny. They’re hill-areas.)
My first real job:
Daycare worker at the local Jazzercise gym. I still appreciate a good scrunchie!
My first “career” work was at NASA, working on climate change communications. (Earth science, not rocket science.) It’s a beautiful world and we can all do more to take care of it. The Leave No Trace principles are a great place to start!
Tell us about yourself using JUST a haiku.
She’s a lil “out there”
Pitching tents, pitching stories
Outside with friends, dogs.
